Types of TREE plants

Acacia/Vachellia xanthophloea

The fever tree is an attractive, semi-deciduous to deciduous tree approximately 15 to 25 meters tall and has an open, rounded to spreading or flattish crown which is sparsely foliated

Dombeya rotundifolia

A small, shapely tree with a dark brown, deeply longitudinally furrowed bark. The hairy leaves are broadly ovate to almost circular, strongly 5-veined from the base, upper surface rought and dark green, paler below. The flowers are white (sometimes lightly pink), sweetly scented and appear before the leaves in spring. The fruit is an almost spherical capsule with silky hairs.

Ficus Hawaii

A fast growing and decorative evergreen tree with a lovely bushy habit.  Hawaii has large variegated leaves in dark green to grey-green and white.

Ficus ingens

Ficus ingens is an evergreen tree with a briefly deciduous period, with a rounded or spreading crown. All the parts have milky latex when broken. The bark is grey, smooth and becomes cracked in older specimens.

Ficus microcarpa

This hardy tree is an exceptional option to clip into a topiary standard or ‘lollipop’. In ‘wilder’ garden settings it also works excellently as a screening hedge that can be tamed to any height desired. Can also grow into a dense shade tree.

Harpephyllum caffrum

The main stem is clean and straight. The bark is smooth when young, becoming rough, dark grey-brown as it grows older. Branches are curved bowed upwards, with leaves crowded towards the ends, forming a thick crown at the top of the tree.

Ilex Mitis

Ilex mitis is an evergreen tree, with a straight trunk and a rounded canopy. Bark on the young tree is a pale grey-brown with patches of white. It has smooth, fine, transverse ridges and yellow-brown corky specks. As the tree becomes older it becomes evenly whitish-grey with dark rough spots.

Kiggelaria africana

Well-shaped and reasonably robust, the low-branching, wild peach has smooth, pale grey bark that becomes rough with age. The variable leaves of this evergreen tree may resemble those of the peach, with tiny, bell-shaped flowers in between.

Prunus cerasifera nigra

A medium-sized, round-headed deciduous tree with deep blackish-purple leaves and twigs. Single, pale pink flowers open from deep pink buds before the leaves

Rothmannia globosa

The bark is brown or dark grey, smooth when young but rougher in old age and marked in rectangular segments. The shiny simple leaves are oval or lanceolate with a paler underside which displays the yellow or reddish midrib and veins.

Strelitzia nicolai

It is an evergreen tree with multi-stems that form dense clumps. The stem is woody and smooth in texture. Attached to the stem by long, thick leaf stalks are the enormous, opposite leaves that are shiny and grey-green.

Syzygium cordatum

An evergreen, water-loving tree. The leaves are elliptic to circular, bluish green on top and a paler green below. Young leaves are reddish. The white to pinkish fragrant flowers are borne in branched terminals
